Requirements

  • Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300
  • A Windows PC
  • WinRAR, 7-Zip or any archive extraction software installed on your computer.
  • Handset USB drivers installed on the PC. You may install the drivers by installing Samsung Kies.
  • Enable USB debugging on your handset by going to Settings > Developer’s option > USB debugging.
  • Disable antivirus, firewall, and other security software. Also disable Samsung Kies and other software that accesses your phone. Such software can interfere with the procedure in this guide.
  • Backup all personal data on your phone to make sure you have a copy of your personal data (e.g., contacts, SMS, MMS, Internet settings, Wi-Fi passwords, and the like) in case the procedure in this guide erases such data.
  • Maintain a battery charge of 70% or more to make sure that you have sufficient power for the entire procedure.
  • Download Odin3 v3.04 here (Odin3_v3.04.zip, 456.59 kB)
  • Download the stock XXALF2 firmware from the following links (I9300XXALF2_I9300ODDALF1_INU.zip, 749.5MB):

Instructions

  1. Download the firmware from the link above.
  2. Extract the I9300XXALF2_I9300ODDALF1_INU.zip file. You will get one *.tar.md5file after you extract the ZIP file:
    • I9300XXALF2_I9300ODDALF1_I9300DDLEA_HOME.tar.md5
  3. Extract the Odin3_v3.04.zip file into a folder on your computer. You will see the file Odin3 v3.04.exe after you extract the ZIP file.
  4. Double-click Odin3 v3.04.exe to launch Odin on your computer.
  5. Switch off your Samsung Galaxy S3.
  6. Put your Galaxy S3 into Download Mode. To do this, press and hold the Volume Down, Power, and Home buttons. A warning screen will appear. Press the Volume Up key to enter Download Mode
  7. In Odin, click the PDA button.  Select the I9300XXALF2_I9300ODDALF1_I9300DDLEA_HOME.tar.md5 file that you extracted from the firmware ZIP package.
  8. Don’t make any other changes in Odin’s options, except those mentioned in the steps above.
  9. Connect your Samsung Galaxy S3 to your computer.  You will see an “Added” message in Odin. If it doesn’t appear, make sure you have properly installed the USB drivers on the computer.
  10. Click the Start button in Odin to flash the XXALF2 firmware. Your Samsung Galaxy S3 will automatically reboot when the flashing is done. You will see a Samsung logo and a “Pass” message will appear on Odin when the flashing is successfully done.
  11. Disconnect your Samsung Galaxy S3 from your PC after the flashing

Congratulations! The Android 4.0.4 ICS firmware build XXALF2 has been successfully flashed on your Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300.  You have succeeded in restoring stock firmware to your phone. Instructions

  1. Copy the T999UVALEM ROM package to the internal SD card of the phone. Do not extract the package.
  2. Switch off your phone. To make sure it is completely switched off, wait until it vibrates and the lights on the Menu and Back keys go off.
  3. Reboot your phone to ClockworkMod Recovery. To do this, hold the Volume Up, Home, and Power button together until the screen turns on.
  4. Select Wipe Data/Factory Reset and choose Yes on the next screen to confirm the action.
  5. Select Install ZIP from SD Card. Select Choose ZIP from SD Card and choose the Deodexed_T999UVALEM.zip file. To confirm the installation, select Yes – Install Deodexed_T999UVALEM.zip on the next screen to flash the ROM to your phone.
  6. Once the installation is completed, go back to the main recovery menu and select Reboot System Now to reboot your phone to pre-rooted UVALEM ROM.

Pre-requisites to install MIUI ROM on Samsung Galaxy S3 i9300

  • Make sure that the device on which you are applying this update is Samsung Galaxy S3 i9300 and not any other device by Samsung or any other company.
  • We recommend you to backup all your contacts, back, logs, etc. with Backup apps.
  • You can import your data to your phone’s SD card and later on you can export it back.
  • Make sure that your phone has sufficient battery, at least 70% before you apply the update because if your phone will get switched off between of the time you are applying the update and you won’t be able to update your device and even you could face several issues like your phone gets DEAD and we won’t be responsible for that.
  • Enable USB debugging on your phone. Follow the path Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging and USB debugging would be enabled on your mobile device.
  • Also uninstall your antivirus suites in your computer as well as on your mobile phone so that update process may not get interrupted meanwhile.
  • Make sure to follow all the instructions mentioned below properly.

Steps to install MIUI ROM on Samsung Galaxy S3 i9300

  1. This procedure will wipe all your apps, data and settings (but it will NOT touch your SD cards, so don’t worry about those). Backup your Apps and important data — bookmarks, contacts, SMS, APNs (internet settings), etc.
    Important! Don’t forget to at least make a backup of your APN settings, which you can restore later if your data connection does not work after installing the ROM.
  2. Install ClockworkMod recovery on your phone.
  3. Download the latest version of MIUI ROM from the official development page.
  4. Copy the downloaded zip file from step 3 to the internal SD card on the phone.
  5. Now, boot into ClockworkMod recovery. To do that, turn off your phone. Then, hold down Volume Up, Home and then the Power buttons together until the screen turns on, then let them go. The phone will boot into ClockworkMod recovery in a few seconds.
    In recovery, use the volume buttons to scroll up/down and the home button to select an option.
  6. Select wipe data/factory reset, then select yes on next screen to confirm. Wait a while till the data wipe is complete.
  7. Select install zip from SD card, then select choose zip from sdcard. Scroll to the ROM file on the SD card and select it. Confirm installation by selecting Yes – Install _____.zip on the next screen. The ROM will start installing.
  8. After the ROM finishes installing, select go back then select reboot system now to reboot the phone and boot up into MIUI ROM.
  9. Important! NOTE: In case you do not like MIUI, you can flash the stock XXBLFB firmware.
